Professor Lisa Grabert is a leading national expert on Medicare and, in particular, "post-acute care."

Today, she is a professor at the Marquette University School of Nursing where she teaches a graduate course on Health Policy. The course features two perspectives:

1. Overview of the U.S. health system by coverage type:

  • Employer-Sponsored Insurance

  • Medicaid

  • Medicare

  • Private Health Insurance Exchanges

  • Uninsured

2. Crosscutting issues:

  • Quality and Patient Safety

  • Workforce and Rural Health

Professor Grabert actively engages in social media in an effort to “make health care simple.” Each week Professor Grabert posts her favorite tweet of the week.

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) significantly affected the U.S. health care system. In addition, the PHE had a unique effect on higher education. Like many educators, Professor Grabert used a synchronous online model to teach her Fall 2020 health policy class. After each class Professor Grabert recorded a debrief with her teaching assistant on how the students responded to the new learning environment. The podcast series will be available soon—please check back for updates.
